Rahul did a one-year course in Systems Analysis Design from NIIT. He joined Film Addicts in 1985 and trained as a cinematographer and editor. He left to join New Video Ltd. as studio director. The scope of work included managing the post-production facility, planning, marketing, shooting and editing for all in-house production. He was the co-founder of Wide Angle Films in 1988.

Rahul did some path-breaking work with the post-production special effects for Spacecity Sigma, India's first science fiction serial. He established his technical genius over a period of time and provided technical consultancy to TV 18 and TV Today (Producers of Aaj Tak). He subsequently went on to join TV Today as Director Technical and Operations. He helped them to set up the entire technology for their four channels that are on-air currently, apart from setting up three FM channels.

As CEO of Triveni Media Ltd., Rahul set up 7 full automated channels in a period of 1 year at a total cost of approx. US$ 4.5 million.
